Innovations in Form & Function

Explores how design transforms tradition and nature into modern solutions. Each project balances creativity and usability, reimagining familiar forms with a focus on purpose, culture, and contemporary life.

Urban Hearth — A Space for Family and Culture

Korsi — Reviving Iranian Traditions Through Modern Design

Created for an urban design competition focused on large cities,

The Korsi Project is an urban reinterpretation of one of Iran’s most cherished traditions — a symbol of warmth, connection, and togetherness. In Iranian culture, the Korsi was more than a piece of furniture; it was the heart of the home — a place where families gathered, stories were shared, and winters felt warmer through both heat and companionship.

This design aims to bring that same spirit into the rhythm of modern urban life. It reimagines the Korsi as a communal outdoor installation that adapts to every season. During winter, a light thermal system and a layered cover transform it into a cozy social hub, echoing the traditional indoor Korsi experience — providing warmth and encouraging conversation. In summer, it transforms again: the cover is removed, revealing a central cooling basin that evokes memories of Persian courtyards, where people gathered around small pools to refresh fruits and cool beverages.

Surrounding seats, inspired by the textures and patterns of traditional Iranian poushtis (floor cushions), offer ergonomic comfort while preserving cultural aesthetics. Crafted from locally sourced materials, the design invites families, retirees, and urban dwellers to reclaim a sense of community often lost in fast-paced city life.

The Urban Korsi merges functionality and nostalgia — turning public spaces into places of belonging. It celebrates Iranian hospitality and design heritage while presenting a sustainable, modular approach for modern urban living.

A "korsi" is a traditional Iranian low table with a heater underneath and blankets draped over the sides, around which families gather to stay warm in winter. It is a central item for social and cultural gatherings, especially during cold nights and festivals like Yalda night. Some results also refer to a business called "Korsi Yoga," which is a hot yoga studio located in Roswell, GA.

Ant Robot — Biomimicry in Motion

A simple exploration of bionic design inspired by ants, built using parts from my son’s old toys that no longer worked. Made from recycled materials and powered by a single DC motor, the small hexapod tests basic balance and motion while exploring how simple mechanical systems can mimic natural movement

Rhyton Redesign — From Ancient Vessel to Modern Olympic Symbol

This project reimagines the Persian Rhyton, an ancient ceremonial vessel symbolizing celebration, flow, and unity, into a modern design that bridges tradition and innovation. Inspired by its elegant, zoomorphic form, the concept transforms the Rhyton into two contemporary objects — an Olympic Torch, representing collective energy and heritage, and a Modern Pipe, reflecting individuality and craftsmanship. Through fluid geometry and refined materials, the design honors Persian cultural legacy while expressing a timeless, modern aesthetic.
